London Churches Refugee Network brings together Christians working with refugees and asylum seekers in London, working together with the London Churches Refugee Hardship Fund and the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland Churches Refugee Network.
The London Churches Refugee Fund is a charity that raises money to give small grants to organisations assisting refugees and asylum-seekers in the Greater London Area.
On Sunday 26th June - designated 'Refugee Sunday' for 2016 - our members welcomed the Revd Chris Brice [Vicar of St. Martin's Church, Gospel Oak & Chair of the London Churches Refugee Fund - (LCRF)] to speak to us on the work of the fund. Support for LCRF is one of the key tenets of mission at our church & we were privileged to have Chris join us for worship on this special day. LCRF is a charity that raises money to give small grants to organisations assisting refugees & asylum seekers in Greater London. Funding is restricted to those who are destitute. Chris's presentation was passionate, insightful & enlightening & reinforced our commitment to supporting the work of the fund. After the service, we held our annual summer barbecue which was bathed in warm sunshine! Between 65 & 70 members & guests enjoyed wonderful food & camaraderie. Proceeds from ticket sales & from the Church coffee morning held the previous Saturday amounted to £659 & this sum has been donated to LCRF.
Their Vision, Mission and Values Statement
"The London Churches Refugee Network affirms its purpose of supporting refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants. In cooperation with London’s Churches, and with other community groups and agencies, we work to ensure that migrants can gain the security to achieve their aspirations for themselves and for their families while in the UK and in London in particular.
Our vision is of a society in which communities can enable all its members to become integrated so as to live full private and social lives, citizens and non-citizens together, and in which no one, no family nor group is alienated on account of their country of origin.
Our mission is to support and resource London’s Churches in responding to migrants’ needs for welcome and reassurance. In partnership with the Churches and with other organisations who share our values we aim to enable and empower migrants of every nationality, ethnic group, faith and culture to determine their own position and participation in society.
Our values are centred on the dignity of each person as guided by the Church’s teaching about God’s love for all people and the Bible’s affirmation of migration, welcome to the stranger and justice for the vulnerable."
