Putting Faith into Action

We aim to be an outward looking church. In our campaign in support of social justice we aim to share God’s with practical efforts to serve and care for others.

Our current "Mission themes" are below but we have also supported the work of local organisations like
Northwood Live at Home Friendship Group, Dementia Cafe, and CMSS: Central Middlesex Skills Development Centre.

Christian Aid

We have a regular and continuing commitment to Christian Aid which is reinforced in May each year during Christian Aid Week. Christian Aid works globally for profound change that aims to eradicate the causes of poverty, striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality. It is part of a wider movement for social justice and provides urgent, practical and effective assistance where the need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as its root causes.

During Christian Aid Week 2021, £165 was raised through donations to our online e-envelope.
Thank you for your generosity and to everyone who supported this.

Commitment for Life

Commitment for Life is the world development programme of the United Reformed Church. This encourages participating churches to take action, pray and give to people across the world but especially in the four partner countries/region of: Bangladesh, Central America (Honduras, Guatemala. Nicaragua and El Salvador), Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory and Zimbabwe. It has raised millions of pounds working in partnership with Christian Aid and Global Justice Now. See their Stories from partner countries.
We hold an annual dedicated church service and fundraising lunch each Autumn in aid of our chosen partner, which is Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory.
In October 2019 a group of URC representatives went on an educational visit to Palestine/Israel. Our area rep joined us at Northwood Hills for worship on 12th January 2020 to share her experiences. Her talk was powerful and moving.

London Churches Refugee Fund

The London Churches Refugee Fund is a charity that raises money to give small grants to organisations assisting refugees and asylum-seekers in the Greater London Area, supporting the London Churches Refugee Network.
Our 2018 Summer Barbecue raised £300 and Coffee Morning raised £100 for the London Churches Refugee Fund. Thank you to everyone who supported this.

Homelessness

We support the work of Trinity Homeless Projects, based in Uxbridge, who provide day services, housing, coaching, training, work placements and support for people to move-on. Each January we hold a dedicated church service to remember all those who, for whatever reason, have no home, and raise funds by hosting a Hot Pot lunch after the service.
We sent Trinity Homeless Projects £500 this year. (2018)

Disasters & Emergency Appeals

When emergencies happen in the world we make special collections linked to national appeals. We also make Church members aware of as many of the major themes affecting the world as we can, especially those which impact on the vulnerable.
We are sending £750 to the Indonesian Tsunami Appeal via DEC working in unison with Christian Aid. (2018).
In the last year we also raised money, and sent donations, in aid of The Rohingya crisis in Myanmar; and the Mudslides in Sierra Leone. We also held a dedicated service in aid of the Leprosy Mission and sent them a donation too.

Our mission is to work tirelessly towards bringing about a just and peaceful society in which all people are equal in the eyes of each other and of the Holy Spirit.
